Marion County approves $34.07 million CDBG disaster-recovery grant for North Santiam Canyon projects

The Marion County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 7 approved a $34,066,745 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Disaster Recovery subrecipient agreement with the State of Oregon Housing and Community Services Department (OHCS) to support seven wildfire recovery projects in the North Santiam Canyon.
The agreement, presented by county staff including Brian Nicholas, Ryan Crowther and Matt Lawyer, designates Marion County as the subrecipient for CDBG Disaster Recovery funds intended to support recovery work in communities affected by past wildfires. The grant agreement specifies the funding amount and a project period running through Feb. 2, 2029.
Commissioner Kevin Cameron moved to approve the incoming funds agreement; Commissioner Danielle Bethell seconded. The motion carried unanimously, with Commissioners Danielle Bethell, Kevin Cameron and Colm Willis voting aye.
County staff outlined the purpose of the funds and identified seven projects to be supported in the North Santiam Canyon; the board did not record further public comment on the item during the meeting. The agreement will allow county and state officials to proceed with implementing the recovery projects under the terms of the subrecipient arrangement.
The board’s approval was recorded during the Jan. 7 session. The meeting adjourned at 9:38 a.m.
