"This agreement will streamline the permitting and inspection process and reduce mistakes," the presenting staff member said.
The resolution would terminate the city's current permitting agreement once the county's online portal is in place. The term discussed in meeting materials runs through Dec. 31, 2029, and either party may terminate with 60 days' written notice. Council moved to approve the resolution and voted to pass Resolution 2026-05; the mayor is authorized to sign the interlocal agreement pending finalization of the document and transmission to county commissioners for approval.
Council members noted the RCW requires certain clauses in interlocal contracts and staff said one additional section was added to name the city administrator as the local administrator and to confirm that no separate legal entity is created by the agreement.
