Dolores County commissioners appoint three to public library board

At a special meeting Sept. 10 at 9:00 a.m., the Dolores County commissioners voted unanimously to appoint Christie Copas, Mary Davis and Doug Funk to fill three vacancies on the Dolores County Public Library board.

The chair read a letter to the commissioners saying the library board had three vacancies created by recent resignations and that interviews were held with the three candidates. The chair described Christie Copas as "a dentist who lives in Rico," identified Mary Davis as "a retired school teacher who lives [as rendered in the transcript] in Lisonbee Creek," and named Doug Funk as "a retired [term] who was living on the line" (transcript wording). The chair said the library board recommended appointing all three candidates.

A motion to appoint the three candidates was made and seconded; the commissioners voted in favor. The vote to appoint Copas, Davis and Funk was announced as unanimous. The commissioners also approved expenditures described in the meeting as largely utility bills, and they approved the meeting agenda earlier in the session.

During a brief follow-up exchange, commissioners asked for clarification about why one board member left, and the chair responded that the departure was tied to a recent sale of the member's residence. The meeting record notes vouchers and refers to the session serving as a budget workshop; the chair then moved to adjourn and the commission voted to adjourn.

The special meeting closed after the unanimous votes to approve the agenda, approve expenditures and confirm the library board appointments.
