Summary
Postmark has launched a city-run printmaking studio with equipment for screen printing, relief and etching; memberships cost $40/month, day passes $20, with quarterly classes for newcomers and plans to expand into metalworking and glass fusing.
Postmark staff described the newly completed lower-level print studio and the launch of a paid membership that gives artists access to equipment for screen printing, relief and etching.
A Postmark arts assistant said the membership is $40 per month and intended for makers who already have a basic familiarity with print techniques; the studio will also offer quarterly classes so newer users can gain the skills required to safely operate equipment. The assistant described the long-term goal of expanding the workshop to include metalworking and a glass-fusing space but said those additions are planned later.
Staff estimated the studio could accommodate roughly seven to 15 people at once depending on project needs and scheduling; they also described a $20 day pass for visitors who want occasional access without a membership. The assistant said the membership provides access to dedicated equipment and avoids the hazards and storage issues of doing printmaking at home.
Memberships and class schedules will be posted on the Postmark webpage and promoted on @auburn.arts. Staff emphasized safety training and the availability of staff-led classes to help less-experienced users become studio members.
