Miller said a letter in the board packet from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power described a possible solution that would replace some diversions to Mono Lake with recycled water from the Tillman water recycling plant. "City leaders are seeing that this is not the case and that there may be another solution that will benefit Eastern Sierra and certainly Mono County here at Mono Lake," Miller said.
She also told the board the State Water Resources Control Board will host an informational session on March 17 and release a climate‑and‑lake‑balance model built under contract with UCLA. Miller said the model will help the board and public understand how climate change and diversions interact with Mono Lake levels and may inform next steps.
Miller urged staff and supervisors to follow the session and said collaborative modeling supports the simple conclusion: "If you put more water in the lake, the lake will rise."
