Parks commission declines to recommend proposed 2026 park rental fees to Common Council

The Parks, Buildings and Grounds Commission voted on Sept. 18, 2025 and did not forward a recommendation to the Common Council on proposed 2026 park rental fees after a 2-2 split vote.
Commissioner Ferrante moved to approve the proposed 2026 park rental fee schedule and Commissioner Robert T. Rafel seconded the motion. Mayor Ament and Commissioner Rafel voted in favor; Alderperson La Fever and Commissioner Ferrante voted against, producing a tied 2-2 result and causing the motion to fail. No recommendation was sent to the Common Council as a result.
Earlier in the meeting the commission approved the Aug. 11, 2025 and Sept. 5, 2025 meeting minutes. Alderperson La Fever moved each approval and Commissioner Ferrante seconded; both motions passed unanimously, 4-0. The commission then approved a motion to adjourn, which also passed 4-0.
Parks Supervisor Josh Fabian was listed among staff present during the meeting. Commissioner Eugene Wicihowski was recorded as excused.
The commission’s decision means the Common Council will not receive a formal recommendation from this body on the proposed fee changes. The meeting was held at 5:30 p.m. in the Mayor's Conference Room at 3805 S. Casper Dr. and was called to order by Mayor Ament at 5:32 p.m. The commission adjourned after the votes and routine business.
