The Anamosa City Council on Oct. 13 adopted Ordinance No. 966 to remove property from the Tax Increment Financing District for the Anamosa Highway 151 Urban Renewal Area and waived the third reading to place the ordinance upon final passage.
The action on Ordinance No. 966, taken pursuant to section 403.19 of the Code of Iowa, was moved by Council member Rich Crump and seconded by Council member Todd Weimer; the roll call vote was recorded as ayes from Council members Dan Smith, Brooke Gombert, Rich Crump, Kay Smith and Todd Weimer.
Also during the meeting the council voted to set a public hearing for Oct. 27, 2025, on Resolution 2025-69 to consider annexation and rezoning of property described as 1818 130th Street (parcel 2008-53, NE NW excluding parcel 2004-66) from A-1 Agricultural to 4R-2 Multi-Family Residential. That motion was made by Crump and seconded by Weimer; the vote was unanimous among members present.
Other formal actions taken by the council included approval of Resolution 2025-70 appointing a member to the Parks and Recreation Board to fill a term ending Oct. 15, 2029 (motion by Crump, seconded by Dan Smith; roll call ayes). The council also voted to deny the Facility Use Agreement between the Anamosa Community School District and the City of Anamosa (motion by Crump, seconded by Weimer; roll call ayes) and approved pay requests totaling $130,703.60 (motion by Crump, seconded by Kay Smith). The pay-requests vote was recorded as ayes from Kay Smith, Rich Crump, Brooke Gombert and Todd Weimer; Council member Dan Smith cast the lone dissenting vote.
Council members present for the Oct. 13 meeting were Mayor Rod Smith (presiding), Council members Rich Crump, Kay Smith, Todd Weimer, Dan Smith and Brooke Gombert; Council member Teresa Tuetken was absent.
The council also voted to enter closed session under Iowa Code §21.5(1)(i) to evaluate the professional competency of an individual at the individual’s request. The motion to enter closed session passed on a roll call vote; council entered closed session at 6:25 P.M. and returned to open session at 8:19 P.M.
No ordinances, resolutions, or agreements other than those listed above were adopted or finalized in a manner different from the council motion summaries recorded in the official minutes. The council adjourned at 8:20 P.M.
