Board approves event permits, temporary expansions and an Exxon extension

The Caroline County Board of License Commissioners approved several event and temporary requests on Sept. 25, including a temporary license for Casa of Caroline’s trivia‑night fundraiser, a temporary licensed‑premises extension for the Choptank River Yacht Club’s trunk‑or‑treat, and an extension for Exxon to finish remodeling and obtain health department approvals.

Casa organizer Amy Horn told the board the Oct. 17 event at the Cow Barn will include a check‑in with ID checks, two wristband colors to distinguish underage patrons, a mocktail booth, and tip‑certified bartenders provided by Red Light Liquors. "It's a fundraiser for Casa Caroline," Horn said. The board approved the request and asked organizers to document any donated alcohol used for auction or raffle and to ensure all alcohol remains in the licensed footprint; the board amended the event end time to 9:00 p.m. to avoid late‑night overrun.

The Choptank River Yacht Club requested an outdoor expansion for a family trunk‑or‑treat on Oct. 26. The inspector reported prior compliance at the event and the board approved the temporary expansion with the usual inspection and policing conditions.

Exxon asked for an extension while completing interior remodeling and health approvals. Board members noted visible progress on the site and approved an extension through Dec. 31, 2024 so the applicant can finish work and secure necessary permits.

In all approvals the board referenced compliance expectations (TIPs training for servers, documentation for auctioned alcohol, and adherence to the licensed footprint), and staff said inspectors would follow up as needed.
