Summary
The county’s Environmental Management Council and planning department presented the EMC’s 2025 annual report and awarded the Prince family for protecting a long-standing Groveland homestead and conservation easement; presenters highlighted a new Natural Resources Inventory StoryMap and partnerships with NRCS and DEC.
Planning Director Megan Crow and Environmental Management Council Chair Alexander Pierce presented the council’s 2025 annual report and the Earth Day award to Jonathan and Jennifer Prince for long-term stewardship of their Groveland property.
Alexander Pierce outlined the EMC’s mission and said the 2025 report highlights efforts including a Natural Resources Inventory StoryMap, countywide cleanup activities and partnerships with the Genesee Valley Conservancy, NRCS and the Department of Environmental Conservation. Pierce praised the Prince family’s work conserving approximately 175–185 acres and noted their willingness to open the property to community education and events.
Jonathan Prince accepted the award with remarks thanking the EMC and naming local partners who assisted on conservation planning; he said the recognition “reflects something much bigger than just the efforts of our family” and emphasized the role of small, local actions in broader environmental stewardship.
The presenters invited supervisors and the public to review the EMC annual report, which was provided at the meeting and is available on the county website. No formal board action was tied to the award presentation; it was recorded under privileges of the floor.
