County clerk reports $78,500 in February receipts; change to plat filing effective April 1

At the March 24 meeting, the County Clerk reported that February was a busy month, taking in about $78,500 in receipts — above the recent monthly average — with much of the increase attributable to court docket activity.
"Took in about 78 and a half thousand, which is way above average," the county clerk said. The clerk said average daily receipts ran roughly $4,000 and that court-related revenues (fines, dockets) accounted for a sizable share of the month’s intake while recording activity was down.
The clerk told commissioners that beginning April 1 the office will change how plats are re-recorded: multi-sheet plats will be filed under one plat number rather than assigning a separate number for each sheet. The clerk said the change will reduce the published plat count and slightly reduce recorded-fee revenue but will improve storage and filing efficiency.
The clerk also reported February vital-records figures (23 births, 26 deaths, 18 marriage licenses) and case filing/disposition counts for county courts. Commissioners thanked the clerk for the update; no votes were required on these informational items.
