A resident raised concerns about commercial development and taxes during public comment at the Common Council meeting, saying in part that in decades of local experience they had not seen taxes fall as development increased.
The speaker said commercial growth had brought more traffic and strain on city resources and warned the east‑side neighborhood could be damaged if the council favors developers over local interests.
Later in the public comment portion an individual identified himself as "Patrick EDSU, with Suncat Property Group," saying he is one of the applicants for a rezoning and that he is "really excited about this project and to be bringing this to New Berlin." The applicant also noted he is not a New Berlin resident.
Representative quotes: resident — "I've yet to see a tax go down." Applicant Patrick EDSU — "We're really excited about this project and to be bringing this to New Berlin."
