At the April 22 Beaver County work session, department heads provided a series of operational updates ranging from pool repairs to IT security and parks maintenance.
The county submitted the first invoice for a new pool liner; staff said they are awaiting assignment of the project manager and an installation timeline. County staff said the pool-opening schedule is likely delayed through June, with a possible July 4 opening if the project manager and installers confirm that date. "It's probably gonna be delayed at least the month of June...they're looking as a July 4 start," the Chair said.
IT staff described a planned server refresh and a three-year licensing arrangement with Microsoft to ensure mailboxes and security updates are supported. The county expects to consolidate licenses and build a new, security-compliant exchange server to run mailboxes and apply updates.
Public-works staff (Dan Cole) reported operational pressure in parks maintenance: a leaking gas grill issue adjacent to Colony Park that had been raised months earlier now requires signature paperwork and follow-up, and two workers are out on workers' compensation, reducing mowing capacity. Cole said crews are prioritizing tasks but that growing season workloads mean some properties will wait for cutting.
No formal decisions were taken on these operational updates during the work session; staff were directed to continue coordination and provide scheduling details to the board.
