Mono County supervisors honor former supervisor Bing Hunt with proclamation and personal tributes

The Mono County Board of Supervisors adopted a proclamation honoring the life and public service of former District 5 Supervisor Bing Hunt, citing his work on local government bodies, Rotary and community leadership.
"He was always so kind to people and would ask really thoughtful questions," Supervisor Salcedo said while reading the proclamation and recalling Hunt’s approach to governance. Several board members and community colleagues shared personal stories of Hunt’s civility, leadership and willingness to help others.
Joanne, Hunt’s spouse, spoke from the audience: "I had the most wonderful 37 years with him as a loving husband," she said, thanking the board for the recognition and recalling his ability to build consensus. Former colleagues and volunteers described his calm leadership during contentious boards and his involvement in local civic organizations, including Mammoth Lakes Town Council, the Planning Commission and Rotary.
The board moved, seconded and approved the proclamation by voice vote and took photographs with family members. Several supervisors said the recognition was meant to capture Hunt’s commitment to community service and encourage residents to reflect on his example.
