Red Clay Theatre posts audience numbers and contractor scheduled to begin renovations March 30

Eddie Owen provided the Duluth Downtown Development Authority with a monthly performance update for Red Clay Theatre, reporting 14 shows in January with 2,191 people in attendance and saying the theatre has hosted 2,291 shows to date with 267,497 total attendees.
The update was accompanied by a construction status report from Director of Economic Development Chris McGahee. McGahee said contracts for the planned renovations have been signed and that the contractor is scheduled to begin work on March 30. He told the Authority that Red Clay will remain open during the renovation work.
The presentation gave Authority members a snapshot of operations and immediate facilities planning; no formal action or vote was taken on the renovation contracts during the March 17 meeting. The DDA will receive future updates as design and construction progress.
