The Brainerd City Council on Sept. 29 formed a work group to oversee hiring of the city's public utilities director, as required by the employee policy manual.
City administrator Broyles explained the policy requirement and recommended a work group that would include the city administrator, the HR director, up to two representatives from the public utilities commission personnel committee, and one or more council appointees. Council member Jaeger moved to appoint a group consisting of city administrator Broyles, HR director Schubert, public utilities commissioners Angland and Matten, and council appointees Jeff Chazak and Gabe Johnson; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
Broyles said the position has been posted and staff will use a consultant to assist in the hiring process. The council's work group will oversee the search and represent the council's interests during recruitment and selection.
