Committee approves multiple change orders, awards resurfacing and Oak Street engineering contracts

Brainerd City’s committee voted to approve a series of construction change orders and to award engineering contracts for upcoming street projects at its meeting. The actions included approvals for the Lowell Safe Routes to School work, change orders on the Wright Street and 10th reconstruction and the Beach Street–Oak Ridge project, a change order for the Hawkins resurfacing job that replaces a paving subcontractor, and awards of engineering services for 2026 resurfacing and the 2029 Oak Street reconstruction.

Engineer Jesse Dean told the committee that WSB agreed to “commit to cover the cost of those 2 change orders,” referring to two corrections tied to plan oversights, and recommended using state aid construction funds to pay for a topsoil borrow item for the Lowell project.
