Chris Crowley, a Ray County resident, publicly read and presented a petition asking the county to vacate a portion of Vroom Road in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Crowley told commissioners he obtained 12 signatures from township residents and posted notice in three public places at least 20 days before the meeting, completing Planning & Zoning requirements for a petition.
Commissioner Bobby Don Davis moved to accept Crowley’s petition; Presiding Commissioner Sheila Tracy seconded. The motion carried 2‑0. The acceptance is procedural at this stage: the petition was filed and accepted by the court for further processing under local Planning & Zoning rules.
The action does not itself vacate the roadway; it places the matter into the county’s administrative process for review and any subsequent steps required by state law and local ordinance. The commission did not vote on a final vacation of the road during the session.
