Parks board moves May meeting to May 13; staff report summer registration, park construction progress

The Prosper Parks and Recreation Board voted unanimously April 9 to move its May meeting to Wednesday, May 13, to accommodate members’ schedules.
Board members approved the date change by a 5–0 vote after discussing availability; the motion and second were recorded as Carrie Castro and Valerie Rodriguez. Parks staff said the meeting time and location will remain the same.
In staff updates, Dan Baker said summer registration opened the previous Monday and the department’s downtown pickleball event at Raymond Community Park drew 32 teams. Baker, filling in for a staff member on paternity leave, said Remington Community Park construction is underway: fields and sod are in, punch-list items remain, and staff are addressing a detention-pond siltation issue so the site drains properly. Parks operations manager Matt Furr reported seasonal mowing, fertilizing and warranty follow-ups on recent landscape work.
Baker also invited board members to participate in the town’s America 250 video project and described a collaboration with the Prosper Independent School District to showcase student art at Moyer Park.
