The Clute City Council on March 26 voted to set a joint public hearing with the Planning & Zoning Commission for 7 p.m. on April 23 to consider a specific-use permit application for a bingo hall at 1033 Dixie Drive.
Council members and staff discussed that the property formerly housed a similar use and that the prior specific-use permit became void when occupants moved. Staff noted the site is partially occupied by a church, and councilors said granting a new specific-use permit may necessitate amending the church—s existing permit to reflect altered site conditions.
The motion to set the date was made by Councilman Lopez and seconded by Councilman Aguilar; the vote to set the hearing date was unanimous. The hearing will be the formal opportunity for neighbors, the church, and the applicant to present testimony and for the Planning & Zoning Commission and council to consider any use restrictions or permit conditions.
