An economic development representative reported that business‑attraction efforts for February produced additional leads and site visits and announced that a company called Sigmatic has signed a lease and relocated its headquarters to Cedar Park.
“Sigmatic is a plug and play portfolio company who has relocated their headquarters to Cedar Park and has signed the lease already in innovation workspaces,” the presenter said, describing the company as the first to go through the city’s new innovation grant process and noting the company will be hiring locally.
The presenter said the team is seeing improving lead metrics: last year to date the region had about 90 leads at this point, compared with 80 through February this year before recent activity, and staff described several site visits during one week in February. The presenter pointed to Cedar Tech 1 (phase 2 of New Hope Corporate Park, off Scottsdale in the New Hope area) as a frequent focus of company interest and said the kinds of companies visiting included international semiconductor firms and national defense contractors.
The presenter also discussed attending industry conferences, including the TEDC winter conference and the International Economic Development Council’s Leadership Conference, and flagged a platform from OCO Global that staff are evaluating for generating international leads. When a board member asked whether the presenter meant “bids” or “deals,” the presenter clarified that “deals” refers to companies that have made financial or VC investments and have invested in the community.
Board members thanked the presenter and had no substantive requests for action; staff said they will continue to vet lead‑generation tools and meet with prospective vendors.
