Blount County Commission approves routine appointments, contracts and budget amendments

At its Feb. 10 meeting the Blount County Commission unanimously approved a slate of appointments, contracts, surplus sales and budget amendments and scheduled several presentations and follow-ups for March.
The Blount County Commission met on Feb. 10, 2026, in Oneonta and by unanimous votes approved multiple routine items including board appointments, contracts for the multipurpose center and several budget line-item revisions.
The meeting, chaired by Bradley Harvey, opened with a roll call naming Commissioners Allen Armstrong, Chad Trammell and Chase Moore as present and Commissioner Nick Wahburn absent. The board adopted the agenda and added a proclamation from the Daughters of the American Revolution honoring America’s 250th anniversary.
Among the appointments approved were Jim Kilgore to M4H (nominated in place of a listed candidate) and Kendra Wood to the Multipurpose Advisory Board (recommended by the Board of Education). The board also appointed Billy Irvine to the municipalities’ seat on the 911 Board and Josalyn Blair to fill the remainder of Glinda Self’s term on DHR.
The commission approved an agreement with Buffalo Rock for multipurpose center services, a contract for 2026 fair artists and attractions, and allowed the Friends of Locust Fork River to host a native plant sale at King’s Bend on April 11. It also approved public leases for the multipurpose center involving the Board of Education, the Economic Development Council and Auburn Extension; county staff advised a two- or three-year lease would be allowable subject to the entities’ own rules.
The board approved multiple surplus declarations and sales, including two Bush Hogs and a Caterpillar forklift, and authorized the purchase of two Land Pride mowing decks for District 1 and modular bleachers for the multipurpose center’s outdoor arena (up to 1,500 seats, expandable).
Budget amendments across district and department line items were approved as presented. The board voted not to renew a CD maturing at Hometown Bank (ending in 0718) and to reassign those funds toward courthouse renovations. The commission also approved a transfer from Fund 184 to Fund 005.
The meeting adjourned following an executive session and public announcements summarizing the executive-session outcomes.

The commission will hear a presentation from Leslie Clines on tourism matters at next month’s meeting and a PALS representative is scheduled for March to explain a proposed program.
