At the Jan. 28 Leeds City Council meeting, members reported on municipal operations and parks improvements.
Mayor Eddie Moore said the Street Department received new equipment and that additional equipment is on order; he reported two new stop signs with flashing lights were ordered for Ziegler Road, with a third stop sign and a painted stop bar to be added for visibility.
Council Member Cary Kennedy said the Street Department has received a skid steer, a leaf trailer and an excavator and that the city plans to hire at least five new employees so more work can be done in-house rather than outsourcing. Council Member Sabrina Rose requested an update on Moton Park playground equipment and said the vendor must provide an invoice before a purchase order can be issued; she also reported parks have been cleaned and that dog park bag stations will be installed.
Council Member Ryan Holtbrooks said blueprints for the pickleball court were received to address ongoing issues with that facility; the meeting record contains an unclear date fragment and does not provide a clear timetable.
Chuck Friend, a resident of 7709 Shallow Circle, used the public-comment period to present follow-up materials and samples for an environmental and waste-related business he hopes to bring to Leeds.
The council adjourned at 6:59 PM.
