Pike Road council accepts January financials; approves fireworks contract and restaurant liquor license

The Town of Pike Road Council convened Feb. 25 and accepted minutes from the Feb. 9 meeting and the January 2026 financial statements presented by Denna Caro of Carr, Riggs & Ingram.
Caro told the council that the town's available cash was $20,207,052 and that the fund balance was $19,701,819, an increase of $362,518 from the prior year. She reported year-to-date revenues of $6,147,972 and net income of $2,542,347, representing an income-to-expenses ratio of 41% and about 32 months of operating expenses on hand. Councilman Doug Fuhrman moved to accept the financial statements; Councilwoman Mim Whatley seconded, and the motion passed by unanimous vote.
The council also approved Resolution 012-2026 to contract fireworks for the town's SummerFest. Mayor Stone confirmed the event is scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2026. Councilwoman Angie Bradsher moved for approval; Councilman Rob Steindorff seconded. The council approved the resolution unanimously; the record notes Mayor Stone did not cast a vote on that item.
Council members next approved an ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) license for The Goat Bar and Grill at 9544 Vaughn Road. Owner Mr. Patel told the council the proposed hours of operation would be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Councilwoman Bradsher moved to approve the 020 Restaurant Retail Liquor license; Councilman Steindorff seconded. The license was approved by unanimous vote, without a recorded vote from Mayor Stone.
The meeting adjourned at 7:26 a.m. The first reading of an annexation ordinance for 1098 Chaseway Drive was held and will return on the next regular meeting agenda because the property owner was not present to answer questions.
