At the June 17 work session, staff presented a rezoning request for a multifamily project at a site that spans Addison and Farmers Branch and said the applicant has requested postponement to the August Planning & Zoning meeting to let Farmers Branch finish its process first.
Leslie Knipe, director of Development and Neighborhood Services, described the project history: the office building went through foreclosure about 18–20 months ago, the purchaser initially pursued an office‑to‑condo conversion that proved cost prohibitive, and the applicant now proposes demolition of the office and construction of a multifamily complex of roughly 387–400 units on the Addison side while retaining the existing Farmers Branch parking garage for shared parking.
Commissioners asked about parking and ownership (Commissioner 6). Knipe said there will be some surface parking on the Addison side and that staff is drafting PD standards requiring a shared‑parking agreement—either common ownership or a recorded easement—to ensure a number of garage spaces are dedicated to the Addison portion.
Staff said it has not received feedback from surrounding property owners and will re‑notice the item for the August hearing as requested by the applicant; because the item was already noticed, staff will hold a public hearing tonight if any members of the public appear and wish to speak.
No formal action was taken at the work session.
