The Addison Planning and Zoning Commission approved a special use permit for BatBox, an indoor baseball‑simulation entertainment venue with on‑premise alcohol at 5100 Belt Line Road, during its meeting. The commission voted by voice after a staff report recommended approval with an operations curfew.
Corey, the staff presenter, said the proposal removes one entrance, updates the façade with a bronze and gray color scheme and otherwise complies with town requirements. Staff sent eight notices for the public hearing and reported no responses as of 3:00 p.m.; staff recommended approval with the condition that operations close no later than 2 a.m.
Craig Wenning, chief operating officer of BatBox Holdings, told commissioners the concept is a fully immersive batting‑simulation experience: 560‑square‑foot bays with a projection, high‑definition sensors and a simulated pitcher. Wenning said the company operates other experiential brands in the region and has an existing office near Addison Airport.
Commissioners asked about hours and staffing. Staff clarified permitted hours: Sunday–Thursday no later than midnight and Friday–Saturday no later than 2 a.m. Wenning said the menu will emphasize an elevated ballpark experience alongside Mexican‑influenced items and that the business expects a mix of local and regional employees.
With no public speakers, a commissioner moved to approve the SUP as presented; the motion was seconded and carried on a voice vote. The chair welcomed the applicant to Addison.
