Commission hears updates on school construction, Princeton project and training opportunity

At the July 15 work session, staff provided several routine updates for the commission, including project timelines and upcoming events.
Leslie Knight said the private school across from the courtyard behind the Crowne Plaza remains under construction and is delayed by ongoing challenges — Knight cited manpower as a primary constraint — and that the operator is using partly completed floors for storage. Staff indicated the current plan is for the school to occupy the new facility early next year, but the opening timetable is delayed.
Knight confirmed the Princeton redevelopment will return to the Addison Planning and Zoning Commission in August for the Addison portion; the Farmers Branch component will be decided by Farmers Branch City Council, which is why applicants requested an additional month’s postponement.
Knight also offered a training opportunity for elected and appointed officials scheduled "a week from Friday," and said the town will pay registration fees for commissioners who wish to attend. She noted the comprehensive-plan update is delayed about four weeks and that staff will present it in August.
Knight said the last zoning case the commission approved, Grama America (a special use permit for an educational institution), is scheduled for City Council review on July 22.
