Board president announced that Placentia emerged from a competitive pool of applicants and will start with RBUSD on July 1, 2026. The board described Placentia’s background as including more than five years of human-resources experience and 18 years of site-level leadership. The district said he holds a bachelor’s degree in ethnic studies from California State University, Fullerton, and two master’s degrees from Azusa Pacific University in school counseling and educational administration.
The board said Placentia served 13 years as an administrator in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District, leading efforts to improve student achievement and earning recognition for schools serving underrepresented communities. A district statement also noted his work in Tustin Unified, where he led a dual-immersion program transition and supported career-technical initiatives.
"We are excited to welcome Mister Placentia to RBUSD," the board said in its announcement, noting that the candidate rose from a competitive pool and that the board is confident in his ability to support staff and administrators.
The appointment was announced after the board’s closed session and no public discussion of the personnel decision occurred at the time of the announcement. The district said it will provide onboarding details and a public introduction ahead of his July start date.
