Staff recommended entering a professional services agreement with Paver Walker (listed in materials as the selected firm) for design work, with a proposed fee not to exceed $355,000; council approved the recommendation unanimously.
On the public safety training facility, staff described additional scope added during design (a new tactical space) that increased the construction budget from an originally assumed $19.5 million to $23.3 million and extended the construction duration. Staff recommended amending the original architect agreement for additional design services not to exceed $432,583; council approved the amendment unanimously.
Fire Chief James Mallon asked the council to authorize the purchase of a multipurpose container live-fire training tower from SIMTech Fire LLC under Sourcewell cooperative pricing in an amount not to exceed $450,000. Chief Mallon explained the current on-site training house required extensive repairs and that the container tower would allow safer and more expandable live-fire and search training. The total replacement cost including demolition and site work is roughly $750,000; site demolition and associated site work would use contingency funds already included in the project GMP. Council approved the purchase as presented.
