Chamblee council adds $680,000 for rail-trail right-of-way and approves $205,000 park master-plan award

Council approved a TIP administrative modification to add $680,000 for acquisition of right-of-way for Chamblee Rail Trail segments 7–12; the council recorded a local match requirement of 20 percent, equal to $170,000. Council member Jimmy First moved the TIP modification and the council approved the motion unanimously.
Separately, the council approved a notice of award to Foresight Group for Huntley Hills Park master-plan implementation for a cost not to exceed $205,000 and authorized the city manager to negotiate a final contract in form approved by the city attorney. Council members noted that three public input sessions will be held for the Huntley Hills project and that related projects include streambank restoration and a Munford Drive stormwater project. The motions passed without opposition.
The TIP modification provides funding to advance right-of-way acquisition for the rail-trail project, and the park award starts the procurement and outreach required for design and implementation work.
