The Tazewell County Community Policy and Management Team (CPMT) unanimously approved several routine and funding motions during its Oct. 27, 2025 meeting.
Roberta Boyd moved that David Taylor, Director of Tazewell County Department of Social Services, chair the meeting and sign approved service plans and maintenance approvals in the absence of Chair Robbie Davis; Shanna Plaster seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Members also approved the Sept. 22, 2025 meeting minutes; the September Fiscal Year 2025 and Fiscal Year 2026 financial reports; and the Safe & Stable funds for Sept. 30, 2025. Each of those motions was made, seconded and carried unanimously.
The CPMT discussed and then declined a FAPT Parent Representative nomination that had been recommended after a phone IFSP review. After members raised concerns about the nominee’s recent behavior toward children in her care, Lori Gates‑Addison moved not to approve the submission; Shelby Mitchell seconded and the motion passed unanimously. FAPT was asked to continue seeking a parent representative.
In closed‑session business, the CPMT voted to certify that the closed meeting complied with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act; the certification passed with a recorded tally of AYES 6, NAYS 0 and ABSENT 4. Following the closed session, the group voted to approve funding to support Foster Care, CPS, Cumberland, Court Services and Tazewell County Schools for services related to specific cases; the motion was moved by Shanna Plaster, seconded by Lori Gates‑Addison, and carried unanimously. The CPMT also approved funding for foster‑care maintenance services not reviewed by FAPT; that motion passed unanimously.
