Argo council approves up to $2,000 for city-wide clean-up; mayor abstains from final vote

Michelle Coalson, who leads the Clean Up Argo campaign, had requested the event for April 11 and laid out logistics discussed by the council, including volunteer coordination, safety measures, coordination with Waste Management and the need for a roll-off dumpster. Council members discussed limiting collected materials (no batteries, oil or paint) and noted that scrap metal would be collected separately. Mayor Hettich estimated a roll-off dumpster would cost between $500 and $1,000 and said the dumpster would be available for public use.
The council also discussed targeting cleanup efforts along the U.S. Highway 11 corridor ahead of the Argo Park and Recreation Spring Festival on April 18.
