The Alameda County Board of Supervisors completed multiple administrative and operational actions April 7 following a long public-comment period.
Closed-session report outs: County counsel told the board two settlements were approved earlier in closed session: Sky Decker v. County of Alameda (U.S. District Court, Northern District of California) settled for $175,000, and Hernandez et al. v. County of Alameda settled for $150,000. Counsel also said the board approved joining two amicus briefs in federal appeals by a 5-0 vote.
Public works: The board opened and closed a public hearing on a proposed fee schedule for installing curb markings and signs and adopted a resolution confirming the schedule for fiscal 2025–26. Staff described the policy as cost recovery consistent with board policy; a public commenter asked the county to enforce existing rules and questioned apparent zero-fee cases.
Health and technology items: The board approved seven full-time positions for Alameda County Information Systems to support the implementation and maintenance of the EPIC electronic health record across county health, behavioral health and jail-health services. Health staff said EPIC will improve care coordination with regional hospitals and support billing functions.
Personnel appointment: The board approved the appointment of Anika Choudhary as Alameda County Health director effective April 12, 2026. Choudhary, who has served in the interim role, thanked the board and said she looks forward to continuing implementation work across the department.
Consent and ordinances: The board approved minutes, a large consent calendar of items and advanced several ordinance readings, including salary and memorandum-of-understanding changes and a FEMA-requested amendment to the county's floodplain-management code intended to preserve county insurance rating benefits.
