Council adopts pedestrian 'toolbox' and crossing-treatment guidelines to guide safety projects

Staff corrected a mapping error identified at the prior work session and previewed a pedestrian dashboard that will track proposed and in-progress projects.
Divini said staff will continue to collect council and public feedback, implement projects using current funding and seek additional budget allocations during the annual process, and leverage Highway Safety Improvement Program grants from TxDOT and bond projects as appropriate. Council members asked about potential focus areas (e.g., Beltway and Midway) and urged prompt implementation; council moved and approved adoption of the toolbox by voice vote.
What’s next: Staff will populate the dashboard with public comments and consultant recommendations, evaluate priority corridors (including Beltway/Midway), and pursue grant/bond funding for construction.
