Director of capital projects Bridal Teney presented the bond oversight committee's annual report, saying the committee unanimously affirmed the district's financial integrity, procurement review and transparency as bond projects move toward permitting and final design.
Director of Capital Projects Bridal Teney presented the bond oversight committee annual report to the Sumner Bonney Lake School District board on April 21, describing the committee’s scope and a unanimous affirmation of the district’s approach to bond implementation.
Teney said the committee—composed of community members with expertise in construction, finance and facilities—reviews solicitation processes, financial statements, project scopes, construction documents and bid solicitations, and periodically inspects sites. She told the board the committee met quarterly and has been especially focused on procurement (including GCCM), financial integrity, risk mitigation and public communication.
"It is nice to see a unanimous affirmation from the committee that we're doing well," Teney said, and she highlighted the committee’s role in building public trust by maintaining transparency about how bond funds are spent.
Board members praised the committee's work and said the oversight structure provides reassurance to the community and a model other districts might follow. Teney said more activity will come as projects enter jurisdictional permitting and final design stages, and she thanked committee members and staff for their work over the inaugural year of oversight meetings.
No formal action was taken; the report was provided for information.
