County secondary roads director: DOT transfer imminent; county to plow old Highway 61 under short‑term snow agreement

To bridge the gap while DOT finalizes legal descriptions, Carter said DOT asked the county to clear snow on those stretches this winter under an agreement that would pay the county roughly $20,000 for the service. "To be honest with you, we were planning on doing it already," he said, adding that the payment offsets work supervisors had already planned for those roads.
Carter also described an interim traffic change in the town of Minneapolis: DOT will install a four‑way stop at the Highway 61/Minneapolis Road intersection as part of its policy before additional traffic‑flow changes are considered. He said a future speed‑limit resolution will follow and that the county has put a Pleasant Grove Road paving bid package out to contractors for next summer; DOT will advertise another paving phase north of the interchange this month.
The board was informed the county will coordinate with DOT and the City of Minneapolis on final decisions and that the snow‑removal agreement and speed‑limit resolution would come to the board for formal approval.
No formal action on the DOT transfer was taken at the meeting; Carter said he would bring an agreement for the board to consider.
