Lincoln County commissioners approve appointments, contracts and direct negotiations over 1,250 acres

At its April 7 session the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners handled a package of administrative and contract items.
Appointments and staffing: Commissioner Melvin Shumway moved to appoint Robert Chapin to the Lincoln County Airport Board for a term ending June 30, 2031; Commissioner Teri Bowers seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Contracts and budgets: The board approved web-based employee benefit selections through the Wyoming Educators Benefit Trust for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027. The board approved Change Order #4 for the District Court addition, increasing the project by $144,321.92 to a new total of $14,604,822.10.
Executive sessions and land matters: The board entered executive session for real estate and legal matters. After returning to open session, the board voted to proceed with negotiations with Astra Seneca regarding about 1,250 acres owned by Stauffer Management Corporation near Sage Junction; the motion passed unanimously. The board later entered a second executive session for legal matters before adjourning.
Vouchers: Commissioners approved payroll and an extensive list of vouchers, which included County Payroll of $610,603.17 and a $953,741.07 payment to SIRQ, INC for the LCJC court addition project listed among other vendor payments.
The motions described above passed unanimously where votes were recorded. Staff will carry out follow-up tasks such as recording appointments, administering benefits, processing change orders, and pursuing the land negotiations as directed by the board.
