County Attorney Joshua Hardin summarized three legal options for a matter discussed in an attorney-client session and asked commissioners to authorize him to implement whichever option he determines most viable. The commission voted to give Hardin that authority and to permit payment of a $5,445.25 fine from the Unassigned Fund Balance if he selects the option that requires payment.
The motion, made by Danny Deal and seconded by Willie Campbell, passed on an electronic roll call with 19 yes votes. Hardin said that any action he chooses would not be secret from the commission and that he would report findings back to the board.
Commissioners asked that any investigative findings and recommendations be returned to the full commission for consideration; the board did not instruct a specific option in open session, consistent with the attorney-client discussion that preceded the authorization.
