Carter County approves multiple budget amendments, server purchase and animal-shelter donations

Carter County commissioners approved several budget amendments and appropriations during the Jan. 17 meeting after Budget Committee recommendations.
Key approvals included authorization for the Trustee’s Office to replace a server and update a workstation at a cost not to exceed $11,000, with funding from the Unassigned Fund Balance (motion by Aaron Frazier, second by Julie Guinn). The commission also approved County Fund Budget Amendment #101-5 totaling $471,543 (with $20,000 from Unassigned Fund Balance); Solid Waste Fund amendment #116-2 for $69,781 from that fund’s balance; Highway Fund amendment #131-3 of $6,000 with no Unassigned Fund Balance impact; General Purpose School Fund #141-5 of $219,430; and School Federal Projects Fund #142-7 of $7,050. Monetary donations of $2,782 and non-monetary donations valued at $913.40 to the Animal Shelter were accepted.
Most motions passed by recorded electronic vote with 21 yes votes where noted. One School Fund vote recorded one abstention (Kelly Collins) on the school fund item; attendance and roll calls are recorded in the official minutes.
