The Public Arts Commission voted unanimously Jan. 22 to defer election of its 2026 officers to the commission's February meeting, citing low attendance and a desire that nominees be present before being nominated.
The chair, who opened the meeting and led roll call, said the commission needed a fuller complement of members before holding elections, adding, “I would agree that I think we need a fuller group of people because I don't want to nominate someone for something, without them being present and being okay with that.”
Elmer Vyde, who identified himself as representing the city council, moved to defer the election “to the February, PAC meeting.” Cheyenne seconded the motion; the chair called the vote and reported that all present were in favor, passing the motion.
The commission noted that two newly appointed members, Mandy and Angela, were not in attendance and that introductions for them will take place at next month's meeting. The commission did not conduct nominations or votes on officers at the Jan. 22 meeting.
Next step: the commission will revisit officer elections at its February meeting when more members are expected to attend.
