The contract committee voted to retain a district AED concierge contract after staff described why an outside vendor is used to supply and maintain machines and provide software reporting.
Booker said the AED concierge contract is for $42,508.91 and that state code requires an AED on campus, within five minutes of a cardiac event. "All schools are required by state code to have an AED on the premise," Booker said. He told the committee the vendor provides the devices (Arbor Enterprises supplies the machines), maintenance and monthly reporting; district campus safety officers perform routine checks based on those reports.
Committee members asked whether the district could staff the function internally. Booker replied that while district personnel do daily checks, the vendor owns the machines and provides required maintenance and replacement services; many other districts also use outside vendors for similar services.
After questions about site placement, reporting and coverage, committee members voted to keep the AED concierge contract in place and moved on to the next agenda item.
Staff noted no decision to bring this service in house was made; members asked staff to include any potential cost or operational impact if the district later chose to change the model.
The committee's record shows the contract was discussed and retained; the transcript does not record a formal roll‑call tally suitable for a public roll call summary.
