Summary
Council approved agreements with Lone Star Paving Company for two resurfacing projects: a major road resurfacing contract not to exceed $1,403,910 and a neighborhood resurfacing contract not to exceed $2,210,484; both contracts were approved unanimously.
The council authorized two construction agreements with Lone Star Paving Company for the city's 2026 pavement programs.
Jessica Kent, senior engineer, said staff selected Lone Star through a competitive sealed proposal process for the 2026 major road resurfacing project; the recommended amount for the major roads project is not to exceed $1,403,910. The work includes mill and overlay on corridors including recently annexed Anderson Mill Road and resurfacing on Lakeline Boulevard with a planned construction window during Leander ISD summer recess.
"Based on the results of the grading process, city staff found that Lone Star Paving Company was the highest ranked of the proposing contractors," Kent told council. Councilors asked about coordination with other utilities and contractor performance; staff said the city coordinates inspections and mitigations for water/wastewater and other underground work prior to paving.
Council then approved a second resolution to award the 2026 neighborhood road resurfacing project to Lone Star in an amount not to exceed $2,210,484. Morgan Huddleston (Engineering & Capital Projects) said neighborhoods included in this package are Buttercup Creek Parkway and Park West Estates and that the work extends service life and improves safety. Construction durations for both projects were presented as approximately 60 days. Both motions passed unanimously.
