At the March 16 meeting the Ionia Public Schools Board approved several personnel recommendations, authorized a chromebook purchase, and acknowledged staff and student accomplishments.
The board reviewed and approved recommended support‑staff hires across district sites, including appointments for Bulldog Beginnings Center, Boyce Elementary, Emerson Elementary and district grounds and maintenance. Superintendent Benjamin Gurk introduced the hire list during the consent and personnel sections of the agenda.
Director of Technology Tim Blackmer presented information about a chromebook purchase for district use. Treasurer Ellis moved the chromebook purchase and Trustee Montgomery supported the motion; the board approved the purchase by a 7-0 vote.
Superintendent Gurk presented Michigan Department of Education recognition awards for special education staff. Student representatives reported athletic and extracurricular accomplishments, including state‑level powerlifting finishes, a CAAC conference bowling championship and other honors.
