Hueytown groups announce spring events, library programs and recreation plans

Several community organizations and city departments used the Feb. 24 Hueytown council meeting to announce spring and summer programming.
Council Member Jacks, speaking for the Chamber of Commerce, outlined the Chamber's planning for 2026 events, including the Third Annual Spring Market on March 14 at the Family Recreation Center, an Easter Brunch in April, a Mayor's Prayer Breakfast on May 7 at North Highlands Baptist Church, and the scholarship program for 2025–2026. She encouraged residents to check the Chamber website for updates and to shop locally.
Carroll Rector with the library announced the Summer Reading Program, scheduled for Wednesdays in June at 11:00 a.m., and Tutored Reading classes in July for students entering first through third grades. Michelle McClinton, president of the Hueytown Arts Council, listed arts events including a Mystery Dinner Theater and the Community Art Show on April 11.
Parks and Recreation items included weekly crochet, open basketball court and walking track schedules, and plans to open a pickleball court and line dancing programs in April.
Mayor Stephen Ware also noted roughly 4.5 miles of trails have been completed at the Nature Park and asked residents to follow "Friends of West Rock Preserve" for updates; he said Chick‑fil‑A construction is progressing and yielded remaining time to Jude Washington, a candidate for Jefferson County Sheriff.
