Parks staff reported the pool is 99% complete and estimated the new facility could average about 175 visitors per day, with a capacity of 320. The YMCA’s proposal of $175,000 was lower than an alternative bid and staff recommended moving forward; the previous contract cost was about $96,000 but staffing and market rates for lifeguards have increased.
Council approved the award and staff said the pool is slated to open on Memorial Day weekend, May 23, with a ribbon cutting that morning. Staff will return to the council with a finalized contract on April 9.
