Superintendent highlights Community Advisory Team action steps and leadership cohort feedback

Superintendent Broadwater presented a summary of the district’s Community Advisory Team (CAT) work and the district’s leadership cohort at the Loveland Board of Education meeting on April 21.

Broadwater told the board the CAT—more than 50 community members who met through the year—produced concrete action steps across four focus areas: pathway strategic vision, an updated AI handbook, finances/operations versus facilities, and community-led conversations about revenues and expenditures. "We have action steps coming out of it," he said, and asked staff to convert CAT feedback into measurable next steps.

Patrick Edmonds, a CAT participant, told the board three main takeaways: deeper understanding of district operations, appreciation of the complexity and trade-offs facing the district, and the importance of clear communication. "Transparency builds trust," Edmonds said, urging more residents to review materials posted at lovelandschools.org/engage and consider joining next year’s CAT.

Broadwater also introduced the district’s teacher and staff leadership cohort. Two cohort participants, Brenda Wilkerson and April Basinger, described how the cohort demystified district processes, built cross-department relationships, and increased participants’ willingness to contribute to district planning.

Administration said the district will present a pathway strategic-vision one-pager next month and continue town halls and community engagement work in the fall. The community survey referenced by Broadwater remained open at the time of the meeting.
