Christian County commissioners accept DeWitt Cave Road vacation, table Riverside Road petition

The Christian County Commission met in regular session on April 2, 2026, at the Historic Christian County Courthouse in Ozark and approved its consent agenda by unanimous vote. Presiding Commissioner Lynn Morris opened the meeting at 9:00 a.m. and a quorum was recorded.
The commission recognized Ashley Marks as the 2025 Most Engaged Neighbor after a brief description of the Missouri Engaged Neighbor program by David Burton of Missouri Extension; the commissioners presented Marks with a certificate.
During a hearing on a petition to vacate DeWitt Cave Road, the commission heard public comment and then voted to accept the petition. Presiding Commissioner Lynn Morris entertained the motion; Eastern Commissioner Bradley A. Jackson moved to accept and Western Commissioner Johnny Williams seconded. The minutes record the vote as Aye: Jackson, Morris, Williams.
A separate petition to vacate a portion of Riverside Road was the subject of public comment and discussion. Commissioners voted to table that petition until a survey of the property is completed. Eastern Commissioner Bradley A. Jackson moved to table and Western Commissioner Johnny Williams seconded; the motion carried with the same Aye vote listing.
The commission recessed at 10:57 a.m. and reconvened at 11:07 a.m. Later in the morning, the body voted to enter closed session under RSMo 610.021.3 (personnel) by roll call; the minutes note the motion was made by Western Commissioner Johnny Williams and seconded by Eastern Commissioner Bradley A. Jackson but do not record the roll-call tally. The commission subsequently voted to exit closed session and resume the regular meeting, and adjourned at 11:57 a.m.
The meeting minutes list attendees including Presiding Commissioner Lynn Morris, Western Commissioner Johnny Williams, Eastern Commissioner Bradley A. Jackson, Minutes Secretary Madi Raines, Assessor Jeremy Burns, County Counselor Austin Fax and other staff and members of the public. The Riverside Road petition will return to the commission after a survey is completed; no further action on that item was taken at this meeting.
