Duluth director outlines Title VI compliance steps, language-access plan ahead of June DOT deadline

Community Development/Engineering Director Margie Pozin presented the City of Duluth's annual Title VI update and told the mayor and council that Title VI documents must be submitted to the Georgia DOT prior to June 30, 2026. Pozin described steps taken this year to satisfy Title VI reporting requirements and highlighted accomplishments in department outreach and nondiscrimination practices.
Pozin said staff was directed to work with each department to develop lists of commonly used phrases that can be translated into other languages for frontline staff use, and she will note the progress of that effort in her next Title VI report. The council gave the staff direction to continue preparing materials needed for the Georgia Department of Transportation submittal.
The update was presented as an informational item; no formal vote was recorded during the work session. City staff will return with progress notes in subsequent reports and with the finalized submittal materials ahead of the June 30 deadline.
