The Glendale Planning & Historic Preservation Commission voted to recommend approval of a conditional use for a new backyard pool at 380 Albion.
Chair introduced the application from Mark and Lisa Wood. An applicant representative described a rectangular pool roughly 40 feet by 18 feet with an automated cover, sited behind the building and downhill from the road; the applicant said Climate Master will construct the pool and John Remke is a technical contact.
Staff clarified that pools are treated as conditional uses under the code and that there is no specific pool setback in the zoning code—setback questions are handled as part of the conditional-use review. Commissioners asked about visibility, footprint and the recently installed fence; the applicant said the fence was permitted and installed about three weeks earlier.
A commissioner moved to approve the conditional use and another seconded; the motion carried by voice vote. Staff told the applicants the Village Council will consider the commission’s recommendation at tonight’s 7:00 p.m. meeting; attendance by the applicants is optional.
The commission noted a follow-up item: the approved application included a berm and plantings to increase privacy, and commissioners asked staff to monitor completion of that work at the site.
