House honors sergeants at arms and Trooper William Bennett in morning ceremony

The clerk read resolutions recognizing Terry Ventrese and Reuben Henry Sanders for their service as sergeants at arms, and a joint resolution honored Chief Sergeant at Arms Bobby Trotter on his retirement. Colleagues across the aisle shared anecdotes about the men’s professionalism, decorum and institutional memory; Mr. Trotter addressed the chamber and thanked members for the recognition.
Later the clerk read House Joint Resolution 1546, honoring Trooper William Bennett of the Tennessee Highway Patrol on the occasion of his retirement after 30 years of service. Members recounted episodes in which Trooper Bennett intervened to keep people safe and praised his commitment to public safety. Trooper Bennett offered brief remarks and thanked members, saying the honor was the highlight of his career.
The recognitions were followed by invitations for photographs at the well and a short recess.
