Keep Oconee County Beautiful announces spring bulky-item amnesty in Oconee County

Keep Oconee County Beautiful announced a spring bulky-item amnesty for Oconee County residents, allowing each household to drop off up to four qualifying items free of the usual $25 charge on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"We're excited to announce we're having a spring bulky item amnesty," said Cindy Pritchard of Keep Oconee County Beautiful. She said the amnesty applies to items that residents "normally pay $25 for" and that households may bring up to four such items without paying that fee.

Pritchard listed examples of acceptable items, saying the program will accept large furniture, large-screen televisions and mattresses. She told residents to bring identification proving Oconee County residency to use the service.

Pritchard asked attendees to allow extra time and patience because the drop-off can get crowded. She closed by thanking volunteers and residents "for what you do to keep Oconee County clean, green, and beautiful."
